Here's what it's been like weather wise in southern Arizona:
Daytime highs were 20C to 30C our first two weeks here, but the latest trend seems to be sunshine and a high of 18C every day ... except for the past two cloudy, windy days :(
Overnight lows have been bouncing around 0C to +8C. Which is why Shelbert has been stepping into her hoody before heading out for her early morning pee.
And then snuggling up in it for more nap time afterwards.
FYI: we did not buy The Bert this hoodie - her foster mom from the dog rescue organization gave it to us when we adopted her. We're not really into doggie clothes, although she does look pretty damn cute!
December 1st is exactly one week away and we're not sure what to expect weather wise, but we are getting ready for Christmas here in JohnnyDisco. No room for a tree in the RV, but...
We did sneak in a huge holiday poinsettia...
The 8" pot, with a 24" plant cost us $15 at a Tucson Home Depot yesterday.
We'll probably also put up a few Christmas lights on the cactus outside our door. Although nothing can compete with Mother Nature - especially out here in the Arizona desert.

Hi it's Tara here - Shelby's old foster Mom and I love your blog and have been following it religously. Shelby seems so happy and I am so glad you guys came into her life. Please hug and a hug for yourselves from me.
Tara

Hey kelsi, would be curious to know what you think about the demographics and how you find making friends to be with the lifestyle - given your comparatively young ages compared to most full-time RVers. Has that been a problem? Also, do you see many kids out there in your wandering (off regular summer holiday times)? I'm contemplating taking next winter off rather than buying into a house right away, and those are some of the things that hold me back. Thanks in advance! :-)

21 C lows and 30 C highs pretty much year round here - come on down!

Hi there Tara - it's great to hear from you. We think of you every time Shelby slips into her 'Britney' hoodie :)
I was hoping you still checked the blog every once in awhile to see how she's doing. She misses you, but she's happy and healthy and turns out she's a great little traveler!
How about you? Are you fostering another dog or have you adopted one?

jjolie - the RV resort we're at in Arizona is half and half Canadian/American RV-ers. There are a few 30 and 40 year olds traveling through, but most folks are 55+. There are very few kids here - we've seen 2 or 3 tykes under the age of 5 but they were only here a couple days. Haven't seen one single teenager, but it seems everyone has at least one dog.
The RV-ers here are very friendly and have the odd get-together or happy hour. They just had a big Thanksgiving lunch at the clubhouse yesterday - My Fella and I aren't very social so we didn't go, but more than half the park went. And they still brought us a plate FULL of turkey and Vietnamese spring rolls afterwards!
Most of the travelers we run into seem very active - biking, hiking, walking, etc. There's one old guy (Dr Bob) who zooms around the park constantly on his segway - he's hilarious!
And everyone we've spoken to has mentioned how young we were and asked about our background. They're not being nosy, they're just curious how we can do this at this point in our lives. Most of the older folks mention they wish they would have started full-timing sooner...

Senor C - that's pretty much perfect weather. If only we could airlift JohnnyDisco and make him magically land in Veracruz...

We were a lot younger then most full timers in the rv parks we stayed in while we we were full timing and never felt out of place at all, we found everyone very friendly and helpful and they seemed glad that we were able to do it.

Thanks for letting me know kelsi and Don! I think one thing is just to not have any preconceptions and take it for what it is. I find that 55+ generation very, very welcoming whenever we've traveled in the RV. Whether it's giving s'mores ingredients out of the blue, teaching me how to build a fire (lol), sharing a glass of wine and a fire - or helping me back in to a spot... all appreciated. I think RVer's are just the most awesome people ever.

Hi Mr P - glad you're back... you were missed :)

Nice comments section Kelsi, good questions and of course, good answers. Old man winter is going to set in soon, but you being from Canada and all, should be able to handle it okay.
We just bundle up, throw another log on the fire and wonder what the hell the temperature is when someone says "18C."
hahahahahahahahaha
Glad you guys are enjoying the lifestyle, and we are happy you are here, all of us old folks.

BoxCar - you're not old ...you're experienced. Some days I feel 'experienced' too, but then I just go into Walmart or Frys and buy a box of wine - magically, when they ask for my ID, I feel young again :)
I've been carded more times here in 6 weeks than at home all last year. I love the USA! (Of course at home I use the same liquor store all the time. They pretty much yell my name when I walk in the door - like Norm, from Cheers.)

Just bought an equally lovely Poinsettia plant here in Xico - 50 pesos (less than 4 bucks Canadian ;-)

Senor C - It's not your poinsettias that I covet... it's your tomatoes. I still have fond dreams of the cheap produce in Mexico.
By the way, glad you and the missus are okay. What a crazy and inconvenient experience you had on the highways. Did it change your views on Mex in any way?
