The windows in JohnnyDisco look great.
Last night My Fella took down the rest of the ugly window treatments in the main living area and put all the black sunshades back up on the windows.
Then it took a little head scratching and problem solving to get all the curtain rods up because some of the spaces were too tight to use the drill.
My fella looks a little irritated here.
Is it because:
- I see myself as the project manager yet he ends up doing most of the work :)
- Shelbert just peed on the battery charger for the cordless drill
- He's tired of me saying "look up and smile honey" and then being blinded by the camera flash
- I've got BNN streaming live from my laptop and keep mentioning "for an old guy, Howard Green is a goodlookin' man..."
- ALL OF THE ABOVE
We now return you to our regularly scheduled post...
It's amazing what a difference the curtains make. The main living area now feels more like a small living room than a generic hotel room.
And they offer as much privacy as the blackout shades.
The project was pretty easy and took about 5 hours, including shopping for curtains and rods. Cost for 4 windows:
- 4 packs of curtains 4 x $14
- 4 curtain rods 2 x $4, 2 x $6
Total cost = $76 plus tax, already accounted for in the RV Purchases budget.

I bought a flashlight sized Black and Decker drill/screwdriver with aa batteries in it when we lived in our RV, it was light duty but it fit in very small spaces and I used it a lot. It comes with drill bits and screw drivers and is about $15, I still use it in our house now. Don

Mr P - Sounds handy. We'll check them out next time we're in Home Depot. Not sure about the Home Depots in Kelowna/Vernon, but the ones we've been to in Tucson have HUGE xmas sales on right now.

Get a drill bit extension (also handy for drilling through walls and other deep recesses). Just a few bucks and a good thing to have.
A glint in your eye for older men - hmmm ;-)

Senor C - do they make L shaped extensions? Now that would be handy :)
Did you and your lovely bride close on your new casa yet?

I totally love the curtains! Much better than those shades with their wind-up doo-dads that are finicky with the tension. I end up leaving mine down all the time because the one side is such a PITA. I think it would be wonderful to be able to actually take them off and clean them too - you can't do that with the shades. The other thing I like about it is that RV's can be a little too neutral. Your interior is about the same colour / wood as mine and I find all that brown a little depressing. But your front curtains add some punch and the espresso? curtains add a nice touch.

jjolie - not sure what year your unit is but ours is new-ish and the blinds (both white and black shades) just pop right off!
Easy squeezy lemon sneezey.

It's a 2006 on a 2005 Ford E350. Really? They might pop off? I might have to try that! Aha, just scoped out a unit for sale online that's the same year that looks like it has the shades totally removed (but bare windows for some reason). The pale gold curtain spring project...
