Part of my Easter weekend was spent rearranging our cupboards.
Living full-time in JohnnyDisco obviously means we have much less storage space than if we lived in a regular house. Overall that's a good thing; living in a small space forces you to be more aware of what you bring into the house. And less space means a smaller area to keep clean, warm or cool.
If there is a downside to RV living it's the lack of storage space in the kitchen.
Last week My Fella and I bought our very first Costco card, mainly to take advantage of the big savings on dry goods:
- we eat a lot of canned corn, black beans, rice, etc.
- My Fella takes granola snack bars and Ramen noodles to work
- I eat tuna a few times a week
These items are all cheaper when bought in bulk at Costco, but finding a place to store them in the RV is whole other animal. Especially if you're as anti-clutter as I am. Clutter is the enemy.
So over the long weekend I yanked everything out of the food cupboards and devised a new storage system. And now, each group of food has it's own specific cupboard. I didn't go so far as to label the cupboards, but at one point I was tempted to map out a little chart of where everything is stored and hang it up on the bulletin board for My Fella.
Kinda nerdy, huh?
My Fella is aware of my OCD (obsessive clutter disorder) and has promised to put all the food items neatly back in the exact spot where he found them.
And if I find noodles in the corn section, or the coffee stuffed behind the salad dressing area, heads are gonna roll...
Just kidding.
Maybe.
Sometimes My Fella calls me Monica.
If you have nothing to do this weekend why don't you come over and help load and organize our new RV? Your fella, my wife and I can watch while we drink beer and eat nachos and wings!
It's tragic, our whole garage is filled with boxes of stuff to go into our new RV!

Mr P - My fella had a good chuckle over your comment. According to him, I'd end up getting kicked out of your Rv after trying to sort and label your underwear drawers. He's right - I'm very, VERY organized :)
Congrats on the new rig!
