We decided to park on a different RV site this summer.
My Fella has a seasonal gig at a BC golf resort and we are fortunate to live at the resort during the golf season. The RV site we chose last year was a 100' x 30' patch of bare land backing up to a hill, so we did a little landscaping over the summer. We:
- built a sturdy retaining wall with Allan block and pea gravel
- planted about 20 trees and shrubs
- built a firepit with an old tractor tire rim and river rock
It was a gratifying project, especially since the lot owner paid for the materials and we provided the labour. Landscaping + warm weather + someone else's $$$ = fun summer.
This year My Fella and I chose a different RV site, which edges a 25 foot cliff* overlooking a very pretty farm. Here's the (blurry) view from our front window:
You can see the snow capped mountains in the distance and if you squint your eyes, you'll catch a glimpse of the river below.
Not much to look at yet, but I've already started drawing my homemade blueprints (a.k.a. scribbling out a tentative outline on cheap graph paper).
Our plan this summer is to build a small platform deck and landscape the back of the lot for privacy. More pics will be posted over the next month.
*Funny story - depending on your sense of humour: There are thirteen sites on the cliff side of this RV resort. The drop-off is pretty steep but there are lots of trees to stop your fall, or at least slow you down, if you ever slid off the edge. Some RV site owners have put up fences as a safety precaution, while other owners are just careful not to get too close to the edge.
Several years ago, a group of RV-ers were sitting around the campfire and heard a man screaming in the darkness. They ran to the cliff to investigate and discovered their (very drunk) neighbour had rolled all the way down the hill with his pants around his ankles. The Nincompoop figured it would be easier for him to pee over the edge of the cliff than stumble into his RV and use his bathroom. He was wrong.
We never actually met Nincompoop, since he sold his RV lot the next summer.
Very nice site! Good choice! Tomorrow our new rv shakedown overnite trip, we are all loaded and ready to go. We are pleased with Country RVs service and price. Looking forward to heading south this winter.
