We crossed a few things off the RV Site Reno list yesterday.
The RV lot we are parked on this season is completely undeveloped.
My Fella and I volunteered to do some landscaping if the owner paid for the materials so we kicked off The Big Dig yesterday. Yes, everything has to have a cutesy name...
My first plan was to block off the big propane tank that lives next door.
It's just ugly and... well, ugly.
My Fella dug out a long deep trench for a row of emerald cedars. In front of the trench, he also dug several individual holes so I could plant some boxwoods for visual interest.
We planted three 6' cedars and three round boxwood shrubs. I'll have to make another trip into town for the final two cedars (since I could only fit three in my little car) but once the final two are planted, the propane tank will be completely hidden from our view.
On the left hand side of the lot we planted 4 common purple lilac bushes.
Spring is not the best time to plant lilacs, but we really wanted them in the ground for the summer.
More pics of The Big Dig on the way.
Cash spent so far: $272 (CAD), including taxes
- soil with fertilizer - 3 bags for $10
- medium size can of bonemeal - $8.99
- 5 six foot emerald cedars - $19.88 each on sale
- 4 boxwood shrubs - $9.88 each on sale
- 4 common lilac bushes - $20 each
It appears you two have found a new calling. Is there a new RV landscaping business in the future?

Did you miss doing things like this when you were down south?

Rene and J - I've always been into landscaping and gardening. Over the past 15 years I've owned 8 different houses and happily landscaped every single yard. And My Fella just likes getting outside and working with his hands. Lucky for me he enjoys the manual labour :)
p.s. I've been cyberstalking your blog - your new pad looks great!

Mr P - It feels like we have the best of both worlds right now. We get to travel south for six months a year and see new places... and then during the summer, we can establish a more stable environment and put down some roots in BC. I mean LITERALLY put down some roots. Like cedars :)
