The sky was a fiery yellow/orange tonight.
When you live in an RV on a golf course surrounded by forest, that's kind of a spooky sight. Especially with the smell of fire in the air and smoke off in the distance. But more often than not, both the fire and smoke is just a neighbour's campfire. And the orange sky is ...
... just a really awesome orange-y western sky.
Gorgeous.
It sounds corny and very cliche, but I feel so lucky to be where we are and doing what we're doing at our age.
If you're in your 20's or 30's and you want this life by age 40: spend less than you earn, save/invest as much as you can and don't buy junk. If you stick to the basics you'll be way ahead of everyone else. Easier said than done, but c'mon - it's not rocket science.
And as I climb down off my pedestal about to hit the publish button on this post, I hear My Fella screech into the driveway, slam the car door and holler out a phrase I haven't heard in awhile:
"Honey, I CAUGHT A FISH!"
Keep in mind My Fella is 6'4", so that's a decent size chinook salmon.
Good sized fishy to BBQ during our mini family reunion on the Labour Day long weekend. See ya soon, Outlaws :)
We'll be there with the onions and lemons and the box of wine.... Good looking fish Dave.

I really enjoy fishing, and that is one thing that I hope to spend more time doing. I have caught trout in BC, but have never had the opportunity to land a salmon.....yet !!
PS- Doesn't it appear that yer fella, is pulling that salmon out of a grocery bag...wonder how much per pound he had to pay !!

Pa Outlaw - it is a nice looking fishy, isn't it?
Glad you're all coming out this weekend cause I'm a little tired of hearing the whole "how I reeled it in" story in excruciating detail. Now the Fella will have someone else to bore- I mean someone new to share his story with :)

TnT - it does look suspiciously like a grocery bag, doesn't it?
But if you had smelled My Fella when he got home from the river last night, your nose would have convinced you that he was out wrestling big fish - not shopping for them. Trust me on this one :)

Wow, that`s a big one. In the Koocanusa this year the fish all looked pretty small.

jjolie - had to google Koocanusa. Looks gorgeous.
And I loved your latest blog post about your summer RV trip. Especially "the # of times the voices in my head said “OMG OMG OMG should we turn around? Holy cr*p there’s nowhere to turn around!"
Hilarious!

Ack! You've never been to the Koocanusa area? It's great there, but I think my favorite area was the Sawtooth National Recreation Area in Idaho. Great campgrounds there and loads and loads of boondocking spots that you don't have to go 4 wheeling to get to.
It didn't help that Marc kept saying "oh mom, you can do it" and getting out and guiding me around the rocks (that looked like boulders) and potholes (that looked like craters). On the way out, I just said whatever, I'm getting the heck out of here before it gets dark.

yes, Koocanusa...hop, skip and jump to our town of Cranbrook...it's beautiful here. Me & Yogi go out for picnics on every sunny saturday...not so much now; hunting season.
