here's what local roads look like the morning after a gusty windstorm
one lane for traffic, one lane for sand
If it's a major windstorm, the town sends guys out with shovels and graders to 'plow' the sand back into the ditches. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me when we saw the hombres sand plowing.
But I did have my camera handy for something a bit more stimulating...
Just one of the numerous discount pharmacies lining the streets of Puerto Penasco.
This isn't a huge town, with a population of only 60,000. But there must be around 30 discount drug stores, displaying bright yellow and red signs offering all your vacation essentials :)
You don't need a prescription for many behind-the-counter pills in Mexico, which explains why these farmacias are so popular with tourists.
The only thing that outnumbers drug stores in Puerto Penasco are the artsy wall murals decorating the town. There are some incredibly talented painters lurking around these parts.
we saw these murals painted on the walls of a live music venue
the blue dolphins are on a building at the edge of the tourist area downtown
a mucho creative For Sale sign
this mural is at the Plaza Colosio across from the Malecon
what's more eye catching? the colorful mermaid art or that shocking pink trailer?
a sea scene painted on a building by the marina
and my favorite murals line the walls of the Puerto Penasco boatyard
